Shalom School

Shalom School

TESS is excited about supporting the building of a new model boarding school, Shalom International School for Life-Long Learning, for the people of Teso.

The school is being built in response to the many challenges that we and colleagues in Uganda are concerned about in the current educational culture and system in Uganda. Shalom School was originally the vision of Rev Jeremiah Acelun who shared it with Margaret Stevens, the founder of TESS, and colleagues in Teso. The vision has now spread and been embraced enthusiastically by the leaders and people of Teso as well as by TESS and people elsewhere.

Shalom International School for Life-Long Learning will provide

  • relevant, innovative and appropriate education
  • quality education of international standards
  • sustainable education and buildings
  • education for life
  • education for the most disadvantaged children of Teso
  • opportunities for adults who have missed out on formal education or want to learn new skills

Shalom will equip young people and adults to become leaders who will then be facilitators and catalysts in the process of transforming communities and lifting people out of poverty.

“Learning to live and Living to learn”

Mission statement for Shalom School
Providing opportunities for the people of Teso, especially those who are disadvantaged, to access relevant, holistic education of international standards which embodies the motto "Learning to live and living to learn", so enabling positive transformation and development throughout Teso and beyond.
